Job Title: Accounts Assistant
Role Overview
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our friendly local accounting practice. The successful candidate will support the accounts team in delivering high-quality accounting and bookkeeping services to a varied portfolio of clients, including sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong interest in accounting who is looking to develop their skills within a professional practice environment.
Key Responsibilities
Assisting with the preparation of accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies
Processing bookkeeping records using accounting software
Preparing and submitting VAT returns
Bank reconciliations and general ledger maintenance
Assisting with payroll processing and related submissions
Supporting the preparation of management accounts
Liaising with clients to request information and resolve queries
Maintaining accurate and up-to-date client records
Providing general administrative support to the accounts team as required
Skills and Experience
Essential:
Previous experience in an accounts or bookkeeping role (practice experience preferred)
Basic understanding of accounting principles
Good numerical and analytical skills
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications
Good communication and organisational skills
Desirable:
Experience working in an accounting practice
Familiarity with cloud accounting software
Studying or willing to study towards an AAT qualification (or equivalent)
