Main duties of the job
Clinical responsibilities include weekly cath lab sessions, cardiology in‑reach into ED and AMU, outpatient clinics, referral triage, and attending the JCC MDT. The cath lab sessions will involve cover of fallow slots until regular slots in the cath lab become available. The hospital is about to start a cardiac MRI service, so accreditation in cardiac MRI is desirable to contribute to the supervision of lists and reporting of studies. Participation in the interventional cardiology on‑call (primary PCI, emergency temporary pacing and pericardiocentesis) occurs on a 1 in 6 basis during the week, and on a 1 in 7 basis at the weekend. There is a 1 in 11 consultant of the week rota for covering CCU, the cardiology stepdown ward and inpatient cardiology referrals. Time will be provided for admin, including referral triage and advice and guidance to primary care. Non‑clinical responsibilities include active participation in governance and medical audit. SPA time will also be provided for continuing professional development and fulfilling the required commitment for appraisal and revalidation.
