About the Role
I am interested in speaking to motivated and technically capable Senior and Associate Fire Engineers to join a fast-growing, specialist fire safety consultancy delivering design, construction, and operational fire safety solutions. In this role, you will work on a variety of fire engineering projects, supported by experienced senior engineers, and help to ensure buildings and infrastructure are safe, compliant, and future-proofed. Key Responsibilities
Conduct fire engineering assessments during design and construction phases, including:
Smoke modelling and computational fluid dynamics (CFD)
Evacuation analysis and human behaviour modelling
Fire resistance and structural fire engineering calculations
External fire spread assessments
Collaborate with architects, structural and mechanical engineers, and other stakeholders to provide fire safety advice throughout building design.
Produce clear, technically robust reports, fire strategy documents, and design justification.
Support fire safety during construction: attend site, review systems, perform inspections, and advise on fire protection measures.
Assist in project handover, ensuring fire safety measures are correctly implemented and documented.
Engage with building control, regulators, and clients to present and defend fire safety strategies.
Contribute to innovation: apply digital tools, data-driven approaches, and fire science to develop more efficient, evidence-based solutions.
Mentor and support more junior engineers, helping grow their technical capabilities.
Skills & Experience
A degree in Fire Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or a closely related discipline.
Prior experience (e.g., 25 years) working in fire safety engineering or consultancy (or a similar role) is preferred.
Knowledge of fire science principles, fire dynamics, compartmentation, and fire protection systems.
Experience or understanding of CFD, evacuation modelling, or structural fire calculations is strongly desirable.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Strong report-writing abilities and attention to detail.
Team player with the ability to work collaboratively across disciplines and with external stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects, prioritise, and meet deadlines.
Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
Ambition to achieve professional development, including chartership with a relevant institution.
