The role
As an NDT Quality Inspector, you’ll be at the heart of our Type 31 Frigate Programme, ensuring the structural integrity and quality of our cutting-edge naval vessels. This is a rare opportunity to work on one of the UK’s most significant defence projects, where your expertise will help deliver ships that protect nations and communities worldwide.
Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:
1. Perform structural and NDT inspections, including ultrasonic testing of welds and components.
2. Manage and coordinate Lloyd’s Register inspections and maintain inspection schedules.
3. Conduct product verification audits and onboard quality investigations.
4. Support the Quality Manager and collaborate with internal manufacturing teams.
5. Ensure compliance with engineering standards and specifications.
You’ll work full-time, Monday to Thursday, with overtime opportunities at weekends. This is a fully onsite role at Rosyth.
Essential experience of the NDT Quality Inspector:
6. Proven experience in heavy manufacturing environments, ideally with fabrication and structural work.
7. Demonstrable expertise in Welding Inspection and NDT Inspection, preferably Ultrasonic.
8. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
9. Skilled in assessing production and subcontractor work for quality and technical compliance.
10. Strong knowledge of Quality Control fundamentals.
Qualifications for the NDT Quality Inspector:
11. SVQ Level 3 or above in a recognised engineering trade qualification such as Fabrication/Welding/Shipwright/Marine Engineering
12. Minimum CSWIP 3.1 (or equivalent).
13. Minimum PCN Level 2 in UT (MT & PT beneficial).
14. Additional NDT or coatings inspection certifications are advantageous.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
