On behalf of our client, we are currently seeking an experienced Workshop Generator Engineer to join their service teams at the Surrey depots. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled and reliable individual who enjoys preparing, maintaining and repairing power products and generators to the highest standard.
This role is ideal for someone with strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to work independently in a busy workshop environment.
Job Details
* Job type: Full‑time
* Location: Surrey, workshop‑based role
* Salary: £17‑£19 per hour
* Overtime available at 1.5×
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure PDI work is carried out to the required standard and timeframe for all power products/generators
* Fit attachments/extras to generators as per sales request
* Lift and move power products inside and outside of the workshop
* Maintain depot areas in a clean and presentable manner at all times
* Investigate, diagnose and resolve reports of technical problems with power products
* Perform general engineering duties, including working at height, beneath and within all power products
* Repair and maintain power products
* Service a variety of power products within the workshop
* Work independently to troubleshoot and solve problems
* Complete job cards accurately and within given timeframes
* Complete paperwork, timesheets and parts requests promptly
* Demonstrate mechanical and electrical fault‑finding capabilities
* Be electrically and mechanically qualified
* Develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external customers
* Ensure compliance with relevant procedures when repairing and inspecting equipment
* Ensure work/personal equipment complies with all safety standards
* Present a professional image at all times
* Take responsibility for health and safety of self, colleagues and customers in line with company policy
Qualifications and Experience
* Solid mechanical aptitude
* Minimum 5 years generator experience
* Knowledge of engines, alternators, control panels and wiring diagrams
* Strong diagnostic and leadership skills; able to work independently or in a team
* Full driving licence
* Excellent verbal, written and critical thinking skills
* Proficient in Microsoft Office
* Strong interpersonal, customer service and commercial awareness skills
* Efficient, flexible and able to remain adaptable to all aspects of the role
