Job Summary
Supporting Biocomposites’ approach to communicating scientific information on unapproved uses (SIUU) of approved/cleared medical products to Health Care Professionals (HCP) to inform their clinical practice decisions for the care of an individual patient.
Reports to
Principal Medical Science Liaison.
Location & Working Pattern
Keele office (3 days per week). Standard working hours are Mon‑Fri 8:00‑16:00, or 9:00‑17:00 (35 hpw). Flexibility to cover surgeon availability required.
Duties & Responsibilities
* To respond to unsolicited requests from clinicians, whilst understanding and applying country specific guidelines for responding to unsolicited requests.
* Maintain a database of requests and maintain the process for dealing with this for Biocompsites Ltd.
* Support the provision of SIUU to HCPs across all channels; face‑to‑face, print and digital.
* Present presentations on relevant studies/clinical data for HCPs in accordance with applicable guidance.
* Present latest papers and clinical updates in a monthly seminar to Biocomposites staff.
* Identify and understand how our products are used by HCP in practice within and outside their approval/clearance.
* Identify and review any new papers for the bibliography of clinical reference sources (e.g. clinical practice guidelines, reference texts) that refer to Biocomposites’ products and competitor products.
* Work with the rest of the MSL team to understand and develop best practice for the provision of SIUU and the responding to unsolicited requests.
* As required, offer scientific support to other teams within the company (sales, marketing, regulatory).
Essential Requirements
* Master’s degree in a scientific subject or relevant experience.
* 1–2 years’ experience in supporting unsolicited requests.
* Knowledge of scientific principles and concepts.
* Good communication skills including scientific writing for different audiences.
* Flexibility to cover surgeon availability as required.
Desirable Requirements
* Postgraduate certificate in a scientific discipline.
* Working knowledge of the guidelines for responding to unsolicited requests and sharing SIUU.
* Ability to present data to a variety of audiences.
* Prepared to travel as required.
