We are looking for a skilled and proactive Die Changer to join our Manufacturing team within the extrusion plant. The role is critical to ensuring the efficient, safe, and high-quality production of extruded profiles through the accurate preparation, setting, inspection, and maintenance of extrusion tooling. You will play a key part in maintaining tooling condition and performance, supporting production trials, and resolving tooling-related production issues to minimise downtime and maximise output. Key Responsibilities Tooling & Setup Prepare, set, and remove extrusion tooling accurately and safely on extrusion lines Dismantle, clean, inspect, lubricate, and reassemble extrusion dies, calibrators, tanks, and related components after each production run Measure and inspect tooling apertures to ensure correct assembly and performance Store tooling correctly with appropriate identification and safety notices Maintenance & Inspection Proactively maintain tooling quality to maximise longevity and performance Identify, document, and carry out remedial work on tooling wear or damage where possible Perform minor repairs including polishing, stoning, removal of burnt residues, debris clearing, and replacement of fixings Maintain accurate inspection, cleaning, and maintenance records Production Support Correct production issues such as die-burning, calibrator jams, uneven flow, blockages, or vacuum/water flow faults Support and assist in production trials as required Clean spray and quench tanks between runs to maintain consistent cooling Equipment & Systems Use powered and air tools safely (e.g. steam cleaners, linishers, drills, grinders, Diprofil) Monitor and maintain sonic cleaning tanks, steam cleaners, fuels, and cleaning solutions Replace and maintain water and vacuum piping, connectors, and seals Apply correct torque settings, greases, and lubricants to fixings Health, Safety & Continuous Improvement Maintain high housekeeping standards across work areas Participate in unit safety walks and report EHS concerns Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, productivity, and working practices Report low stock levels of parts and consumables Person Specification Essential Experience as a machinery operator or in a manufacturing environment Strong mechanical aptitude with attention to detail Ability to work independently and use initiative Team player with a flexible, proactive attitude Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement Desirable NVQ or similar technical qualification Experience within extrusion manufacturing Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel Why Join Us?
