Senior Quantity Surveyor - Water Industry
RPS Group has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Water Team, looking after projects related to a variety of major long-term water industry frameworks across the UK. This is a client-facing role on large flagship projects, enabling you to lead from the front and manage delivery while deferring to senior colleagues on larger projects to determine strategy.
About The Team
RPS Water Consulting is a team of Engineers, Modellers, and Data Analysts providing Asset Management and Operational Strategy development to our Water Industry clients to support business planning and delivery. This is an evolving industry requiring innovation, dedication, and teamwork to meet client needs. Our Water Consultancy business has a range of AMP8 programmes leading into AMP9 and beyond.
About You
As a key member of the Water Consultancy business, your role as Senior Quantity Surveyor is critical to delivering great projects for Water Industry clients. You will work with a multi-disciplinary team on a range of capital delivery projects and contribute to optioneering, outline and detailed design projects across the North West, including Wastewater Infrastructure with strong project controls.

Your Responsibilities
* Support the team in achieving high levels of client satisfaction and positive outcomes for our clients.
* Demonstrate a high level of technical capability.
* Apply sound commercial knowledge and insight into cost drivers and value.
* Capture and share knowledge and drive innovation in service.
* Maintain a professional outlook with excellent communication skills.
* Provide high-quality quantity surveying and cost control services in relevant sectors.
* Travel to multiple sites as required by the client.
Skills, Knowledge, And Experience
* Collaborate with the wider business and external teams to develop sourcing and contracting solutions.
* Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects (materials, labour, overheads).
* Understand sourcing strategies and provide supporting data.
* Lead sourcing and contracting procurement, including tender pack development, evaluation, and award.
* Prepare, negotiate, and analyse costs for tenders and contracts.
* Monitor contractor and supplier performance against contract terms; manage expenditure and cost-saving strategies.
* Certify progress payments and monitor supplier financial status; resolve disputes in line with contracts.
* Manage claims, variations, and change orders with proper documentation and approvals.
* Maintain accurate records of project financials, contracts, and correspondence.
* Work in a large programme team with diverse interfaces and cultures.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
* Valid Driving License.
* ICs Chartered or willing to work towards chartership.
