Come and join our Dorset Stroke and Neuro Service serving the West and North of Dorset!
Our team includes nursing, social work, neuropsychology, and voluntary sector roles, as well as apprentices, rotations across the acute and community pathways, and opportunities for advanced practice.
Over the coming years, we aim to further integrate a range of specialists working across stroke and neurology in Dorset, creating an experienced, collaborative team.
This is a full-time band 3 Community Rehabilitation Assistant post. Our service operates six days a week, promoting hybrid working with a mixed caseload of community, base, and home working.
The post covers West Dorset (based at Forston Clinic) and North Dorset (based at Yeatman Hospital), with travel across the county expected.
Note: Applications from candidates requiring current Skilled Worker sponsorship are ineligible.
An Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required, which the Trust covers. Applicants subscribed to the DBS update service can present a valid DBS certificate instead of a new check.
Community Rehabilitation Assistants support qualified staff in delivering physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, and work alongside stroke specialist nurses. The role involves working with patients with stroke and neuro conditions in their homes, offering varied and rewarding work.
Responsibilities include:
1. Contributing to stroke assessment and rehabilitation for community clients under supervision.
2. Working independently in a supportive role within the service.
3. Delivering holistic six-month stroke reviews in clinics and at home.
Postholders can join Dorset's programs on psychological care and motor relearning communities of practice.
