Long established engineering firm seeks a skilled Mechanical Designer to join the team. Working for a company that designs and manufactures electro‑mechanical devices in the UK, you will possess strong mechanical knowledge and experience in designing and developing innovative solutions for complex engineering challenges. This role requires proficiency in various design software and tools, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑quality products.
Responsibilities
* Develop detailed mechanical designs and schematics using CAD software, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
* Utilise SolidWorks and other design tools to create 3D models and assemblies.
* Conduct root cause analysis to identify and resolve design issues effectively.
* Collaborate with engineers and technicians to integrate logic controllers into mechanical systems.
* Perform simulations using MATLAB and Simulink to validate design concepts.
* Apply GD&T principles to ensure accurate specifications and tolerances in designs.
Qualifications
* Proficiency in CAD software, particularly SolidWorks, is essential.
* Experience with LabView for system integration is advantageous.
* Strong understanding of mechanical principles and components.
* Familiarity with root cause analysis techniques is preferred.
* Knowledge of MATLAB and Simulink for modelling and simulation tasks is beneficial.
* Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately.
The role will suit individuals currently working as Mechanical Designer and living within a commutable distance of Kent (Ramsgate, Margate, Dover, Canterbury, Whitstable) or who are willing to relocate.
