The post requires a Level 4 Certificate in Healthcare OR previous NMC registration as a Registered Nurse.

*The post-holder will be responsible for delivering high standards of person-centred, safe, individualised, efficient, and cost-effective care under the delegated authority of a registered nurse. Delegation involves transferring authority to a competent individual to perform specific tasks within a defined situation (NMC 2019).

*The post-holder will communicate effectively at all times, contribute to the team philosophy, and practice in accordance with Health Board standards and statutory requirements, operating within the role's boundaries and assessed competencies.

*The post-holder will work with the line manager to develop their role within the Knowledge & Skills Framework (KSF) post outline and agreed skills and competencies.

*The post-holder must identify areas for further training with the support of the line manager and attend in-service training to maintain competency and professional development.


Main duties of the job

Merlin Ward is a busy surgical ward specialising in ENT, managing complex conditions and providing safe, high-quality evidence-based care.

Person Specification


Qualifications and/or Knowledge

* Level 4 vocational qualification in a relevant healthcare subject / Higher Education Certificate in Healthcare Support Worker
* GCSE Maths and English Grade C or above or equivalent level 2 qualifications
* Evidence of ongoing personal development relevant to healthcare
* Understanding of the HCSW Code of Conduct, All Wales Delegation guidelines, and Wales Band 4 Assistant Practitioner Governance Framework
* Relevant clinical knowledge
* Understanding of procedures and treatment plans
* Knowledge of legislation related to Safeguarding, the Mental Capacity Act, and Deprivation of Liberties Safeguards
* Knowledge of local statutory and voluntary services
* Teaching or assessment qualification


Experience

* Recent clinical care experience
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to manage challenging situations
* Experience in clinical skills such as catheter care, vital signs monitoring, risk assessments, blood glucose monitoring, wound care support, and palliative care
* Experience in medication administration via various routes
* Skills in non-complex wound care
* Welsh speaker Level 1

Salary: £26,928 to £29,551 per annum, pro-rata
