Role Overview
The PIP 1 investigator gathers and examines evidence and undertakes investigations relating to volume and priority crime, placing the victim at the centre of all decisions and actions, to ascertain whether a person should be charged with an offence or if a person charged with an offence is guilty of that offence.
Working Conditions
Full‑time contract (3 month initial period with potential extension). Working hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM‑5:00 PM with core business hours; 40 hours per week including lunch breaks. Condensed hours may be considered (minimum 4 days per week). This is an office‑based role; candidates must be able to travel to at least one of the specified locations.

Compensation
£20.98 p per hour (PAYE).
Key Responsibilities
* Evidence Collection: Collecting and gathering material, intelligence and evidence from a range of sources and recording it in an evidentially admissible format.
* Interviewing: Interviewing witnesses and suspects using appropriate interviewing principles and techniques to gather all required information to support criminal justice outcomes.
* CCTV Review & Suspect Identification: Reviewing CCTV footage, performing facial recognition comparisons and briefing officers.
* Intelligence Collation: Linking offences and preparing intelligence packages to assist arrest operations, particularly in retail theft and business robbery cases.
* Victim Care: Completing risk and needs assessments and providing appropriate support for victims during investigations, including developing victim plans where required.
* Case File Preparation: Preparing and submitting investigative outcome reports, building case files, and managing disclosure of material to ensure compliance with best practice procedures.
Security Clearance
NPPV2 (Full) required.
Requirements
* Must hold PIP Level 1 accreditation.
* Demonstrable experience of complex information gathering and problem solving.
* Detailed understanding of the criminal justice system.
* Must have an active CTC.
* Recent relevant experience within the last 3–5 years.
