Overview

Purchasing Consultant (12 months Fixed Term Contract, Part Time) – We’re looking for a detail-driven Purchasing Consultant to join our Business Services team at KCOM. This is a part-time role (22.5 hours per week), where you’ll play a key part in ensuring our purchasing operations run smoothly, cost-effectively, and in line with our sourcing strategy.

Salary – £15,625 per annum for 22.5 hrs per week

Location – Hull, Carr Lane, 2 days office based minimum

Advert Closing Date – 7th October 2025

Key Responsibilities

* Managing the end-to-end purchasing process in line with KCOM’s sourcing strategy, policies, and procedures.
* Creating and processing Purchase Orders, ensuring compliance with preferred suppliers, contracts, and approval flows.
* Reviewing and converting Purchase Requisitions, handling queries, and ensuring proper approvals are in place.
* Monitoring open Purchase Orders and invoices, checking accuracy, fulfilment, and delivery progress.
* Supporting receipting and invoice processing to enable prompt supplier payment.
* Producing reports on purchasing activities (e.g. open orders, open deliveries) and sharing with relevant stakeholders.
* Maintaining and updating Purchase Order and Supplier Master Data.
* Minimising stock issues and delays by ensuring clean and complete purchase orders.
* Escalating process and supplier issues to the team lead as required.
* Contributing to a strong service culture with a customer-focused approach.


Requirements

* Experience in a purchasing, procurement, or finance support role.
* Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational skills.
* Good knowledge of purchasing processes, requisitions, and invoice handling.
* Ability to manage data accurately, with confidence in using reporting tools.
* A proactive, problem-solving mindset with the ability to escalate issues effectively.
* Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach.
* A service-oriented attitude with a commitment to supporting both colleagues and suppliers.
