The Principal Teacher of Outreach will lead targeted interventions for young people in S3 and S4 who are disengaged from mainstream education. The post holder will work collaboratively with school staff, families, and the wider community to support learners in achieving a minimum of five SCQF Level 4 or Level 3 qualifications, including literacy and numeracy, and to improve their chances of transitioning into a positive destination post-school.

Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Delivery & Assessment
1. Liaise with subject teachers and curriculum leaders to plan and deliver appropriate learning experiences.
2. Ensure assessments are completed and tracked in line with national standards.
3. Adapt curriculum delivery to suit individual learner needs and contexts.
Learner Engagement
4. Identify and work with young people in S3 and S4 who are non-attending or disengaged from school.
5. Build trusting relationships with learners to encourage re-engagement and participation.
6. Deliver learning in a variety of settings including school, community spaces, and family homes.
Attainment & Progression
7. Support learners to achieve a minimum of five SCQF Level 4 or Level 3 qualifications.
8. Ensure literacy and numeracy qualifications are prioritised.
9. Monitor progress and intervene where necessary to maintain momentum toward attainment.
Partnership Working
10. Collaborate with support staff including, guidance teachers, SfL, Pupil Support Services and external agencies.
11. Engage with families to support learner participation and wellbeing.
12. Contribute to whole-school strategies for inclusion and equity.
Leadership & Management
13. Lead outreach initiatives and contribute to school improvement planning.
14. Provide professional learning and support to staff involved in outreach work.
15. Maintain accurate records and report on learner progress and outcomes.

Qualification, Registration and Skill Requirements
Essential:
16. GTCS registration and relevant teaching qualification.
17. Experience working with disengaged or vulnerable learners.
18. Strong understanding of SCQF qualifications and assessment frameworks.
19. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
20. Ability to work independently and flexibly across different environments.
You are required to have high levels of interpersonal skills and abilities which will enable you to work as a member of the senior leadership team to lead and manage school improvement, both at strategic and operational levels, to ensure continuous improvement.
You are required to demonstrate a commitment to your own professional learning as a practitioner through career-long professional learning activity and to be able to show how this has impacted on your practice.
Before confirming your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
For posts within Primary you are required to be fully registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) in Primary.
For posts within Secondary you are required to be fully registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) in Secondary for the specific subject.
You are required to model all behaviour expected of a teacher in Scotland in line with the relevant Professional Standards.
Full registration is required for all Permanent posts, for temporary class teacher posts, provisional GTCS registration in the relevant sector will be considered.
Candidates holding GTCS registration in Further Education must also hold Primary or Secondary registration to meet the essential criteria as determined by Fife Council
Desirable:
21. Experience in outreach or community-based education.
22. Knowledge of trauma-informed and restorative practices.
