The Role

The Doctoral Academy DProf Lead will provide strategic and operational leadership for the Doctor of Professional Studies (DProf) programme within the Doctoral Academy. This role ensures the academic integrity, quality assurance, and smooth delivery of the DProf programme, while acting as the primary academic point of contact for students, supervisors, and internal stakeholders.

What you’ll do

This job description is subject to review and amendment in the light of the changing needs of the University, to provide appropriate development opportunities and/or the addition of any other reasonable duties.


Key Responsibilities

* Recruitment & Admissions
o Liaise with recruitment agencies involved in DProf candidate sourcing.
o Participate in candidate interviews alongside academic departments.
* Programme Development & Delivery
o Design, develop, and review academic content for DProf modules.
o Ensure appropriate staffing and convenorship for study school modules.
o Oversee second marking of DProf module work to ensure consistency and quality.
* Student Experience & Support
o Act as a central academic point of contact for all DProf students and their supervisors.
o Oversee the delivery of non-module provision, including the monthly seminar series.
o Collaborate with the Doctoral Academy Training Lead to deliver the Development Needs Analysis (DNA) process for DProf students in Years 2 and 3.
* Quality Assurance & Monitoring
o Lead the annual monitoring process for the DProf programme in collaboration with academic departments.
o Maintain oversight of academic standards and marking consistency.
* Marketing & Promotion
o Liaise with the Global Marketing and Student Recruitment (GMSR) team to develop and refine marketing strategies for the DProf programme.

Who you are – Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills required


Essential

1. A doctoral qualification (PhD or equivalent professional doctorate).
2. Experience in postgraduate research supervision and/or doctoral programme leadership.
3. Proven ability to design and deliver academic content at postgraduate level.
4. Strong understanding of quality assurance processes in higher education.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
6. Experience in academic administration and programme monitoring.
7. Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and prioritise effectively.
8. Familiarity with professional doctorate structures and student needs.
9. Commitment to enhancing the student experience and supporting academic development.
10. An ability to understand the bilingual nature of the University and an awareness of the procedures in place to support working bilingually.


Desirable

1. Experience working with external recruitment agencies or marketing teams.
2. Knowledge of the Development Needs Analysis (DNA) process.
3. Experience in convening seminars or academic events.
4. Understanding of the professional doctorate landscape in the UK
5. Oral (spoken) and Written Welsh Level B2.*
