About the Role

As an SEN Behavioural Mentor, you will work closely with pupils who experience social, emotional, or behavioural challenges. You will provide consistent, structured support to help learners regulate their emotions, make positive choices, and re‑engage with learning.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide targeted 1:1 behaviour mentoring to pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs.
* Support pupils with emotional regulation using trauma‑informed and therapeutic approaches.
* Deliver structured interventions focusing on self‑esteem, communication, resilience, and behaviour.
* Build trusting, safe relationships with pupils to encourage positive engagement.
* Support teachers in managing behaviour and maintaining a calm, purposeful learning environment.
* Implement strategies outlined in EHCPs, risk assessments, and behaviour plans.
* Use de‑escalation and positive behaviour support strategies consistently.
* Assist pupils during transitions, unstructured times, and off‑site activities.
* Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO, pastoral teams, and external professionals.
-----------------------------------

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

* Passionate about supporting children with SEMH and complex needs.
* Resilient, calm under pressure, and able to respond positively to challenging behaviour.
* Skilled at building strong, supportive relationships with young people.
* An excellent communicator with strong emotional intelligence.
* Proactive, adaptable, and confident working independently or as part of a team.
* Reflective and committed to ongoing professional learning.

Experience working with challenging behaviour, mental health, youth work, or social care is highly desirable.

Requirements

* Experience in behaviour support, youth work, or SEMH settings (preferred).
