Nursing Associate/ Health Care Assistant
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Nursing Associate or Health Care Assistant to join our practice.
Main duties of the job
Working under the direct supervision of the nursing team and in accordance with Practice guidelines and protocols, the post-holder will perform tasks such as venepuncture, NHS Health checks, and Diabetes Year Of Care checks, with training available to develop skills to an advanced level. Duties may also include tasks normally undertaken by a Nursing Associate or Health Care Assistant, as well as roles agreed with the Lead Nurse, considering current training.

Job responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
* Undertake cervical smear (cytology) tests in line with national guidelines.
* Administer a range of injections, including childhood immunisations, flu, and COVID-19 vaccines.
* Perform basic wound care, dressings, and suture or clip removal.
* Record and monitor vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height, and weight.
* Perform ECGs, urinalysis, and phlebotomy (if trained).
* Assist in health promotion, lifestyle advice, and patient education.
* Maintain accurate clinical documentation using EMIS.
* Follow infection prevention protocols and contribute to audits and stock management.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered with the NMC as a Nursing Associate, with no active conditions to practice.
* Willingness to undertake cervical screening and immunisation training if not already trained.
* Up-to-date immunisation and vaccination training.
* Experience in general practice or community healthcare.
* Knowledge of safeguarding, confidentiality, and data protection.
* Proficiency with clinical systems and electronic records.
* Experience in phlebotomy and wound care.
* Support for QOF targets and recall systems.
* Additional qualifications in chronic disease management or smoking cessation are desirable.
