Job summary

An exciting andrare opportunity has arisen to join the STEPS team as a Clinical Psychologist.

We have created a unique environment that enables people to access a wide range of therapies, specialist robotic and VR rehabilitation equipment, and medical specialists all under one roof. This includes access toConsultantsin rehabilitation medicine; spinal injuries, amputations, and pain management. We have an extensive team of clinical professionals, and the psychological therapies team includes two experienced clinical neuropsychologists, a neurologic music therapist, an art psychotherapist and solution focused hypnotherapists.

We believe it is important to care for not only our clients but their families too, we provide advice and education about their injuries or conditions. We work alongside other professionals and organisations helping our clients, this includes the NHS, solicitors, barristers, case managers, insurance companies, prosthetic and orthotic specialists, universities, and experts in rehabilitation technology.

We have a dedicatedpsychology space, our garden room which is set in the beautiful STEPS gardensand has been created with input from our psychology team.

Psychology ishighly valued as part of the interdisciplinary team (IDT), and STEPSRehabilitation is IDT led with access to psychiatrist and rehabilitationconsultants. This post provides the opportunity to work with medico legal casemanagers and solicitors.

Main duties of the job

STEPS is activelywanting to support career development in specific therapies including EMDR, CBTor ACT with the potential to progress on the QICN journey with the support of 2experienced clinical psychologists with extensive experience in neuropsychologyand trauma.

There are alsoopportunities to develop skills in supervision, leadership, research, teachingand training and service development.

You will have goodaccess to a range of the latest of neurological tools on site as well as theopportunity to explore the benefits of rehabilitation technology such as theMindmaze Mindpod.

All relevanttraining will be offered as necessary and further CPD opportunities areencouraged including conference attendance.

Clinicalsupervision will be offered by one of the Senior Clinical Neuropsychologistswithin the team.

The post is open toclinical psychologists who are due to qualify or have experience equivalent toa band 7 and offers career progression equivalent to a band 8a oncecompetencies applicable to that grade and job description have been met.

This post wouldsuit those who have an interest in neurorehabilitation and complex trauma and enjoyworking with individual from the age 16 across their life span as part of aninterdisciplinary team.

Job responsibilities

As a clinical psychologist the role will assist in the delivery of a service to individuals who have experienced life changing injury or illness.

You will be involved in all aspects of the neurorehabilitation and complex trauma programmes as delivered by an extensive, committed, and friendly interdisciplinary team.

This will include:

Exercising expert clinical judgement based on the highest standards of evidence-based practise you will provide highly-specialist psychological assessment, formulation and intervention while working collaboratively with non-psychologist colleagues and external professionals where appropriate.

Using formal testing measures including a range of cognitive assessments to better understand a clients presentation.

Supervision of an assistant psychologist.

Contributing psychological opinion in a range of different meetings relevant to the client's needs

You will also have the opportunity to be involved in shaping the future of the service with client pathway development.

You will work autonomously, being professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of your clinical work and care, adhering to professional guidelines, the HCPC Code of Conduct and the and STEPS policies and procedures.

You will have the opportunity to contribute to developing research capacity and skills within the service

To offer consultation, supervision and training when required by other team members involved in the psychological, emotional, and behavioural well-being of clients

To continually seek to expand and consolidate clinical skills using training, experience, and supervision.

To communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner, information concerning the assessment, formulation, and treatment plans of clients under your care and to effectively evaluate progress.

To receive regular professional supervision from our senior Clinical Psychologists and where appropriate, other senior clinicians.

To continue to access continuing professional development opportunities in line with agreed targets and agreed personal development plan.

Provide advice and consultation on psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues, and other, non-professional carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines, and the overall framework of the team and STEPS policies and procedures.

You will need to be able to analyse and interpret complex data from a variety of sources including psychological and neuropsychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect observation, and semi-structured interviews with clients.

To maintain accurate and detailed records of all interventions using the electronic notes system and other specified systems as applicable.
