We are looking to recruit highly motivated, innovative and enthusiasticSenior Health & Wellbeing Nursesto join our Healthcare Service at Oasis Restore Secure School (ORSS).

ORSS is the first residential Secure School in the UK and will hold 12-18 year old children. All staff work in line with 'Child First' principles to create a developmentally appropriate and trauma informed healthcare service. By joining our team, you will have the opportunity to be involved in developing a new service that will have a real impact on promoting health and well-being for this vulnerable population and impact on their future life orientation.

We believe that the best health care is delivered by multi-disciplinary teams working well together and in partnership with other teams and services to provide seamless care. Senior Health & Wellbeing nurses will work as part of a team and contribute to the success of the team by being an effective role model and supervising Band 5 nurses, support workers and students to ensure they are working to the standards which the children using our services deserve.

The Senior Health & Wellbeing Nurse role is responsible for the delivery of compassionate nursing assessment, care and health promotion services, providing a healthy child programme at the ORSS. Nurses work closely with the children who use our services, their families, friends, and carers and play an important contribution in how children experience our services. The post holder will join a team of nurses, from a variety of backgrounds in terms of experience and training, to care for the children holistically.

They will provide a comprehensive secure school (residential) based nursing service and work as part of an integrated healthcare team which includes primary care, mental health and substance misuse. Senior Health & Wellbeing nurses are expected to be kind and responsive but professional and informative and contribute to the quality of the services we provide by:

• keeping the children who use our services as safe as possible through the use of sound clinical skills and effective risk assessments

• ensuring the best possible clinical outcomes by using up-to-date skills and adhering to evidence-based policies and procedures

• ensuring the children using our services have a good experience by respecting, empowering and working in partnership with people throughout the care planning process.

Oasis Restore is the first UK secure school enabling young people to live their best lives, through education well-being and hope. We will care for children aged 12-18 who are on remand and sentenced to custody by the courts. Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust is a Top Employer Award Winner. We have a Health and Justice Services Directorate, within which sits the 'Children and Young People' Service line working in partnership with 'Youth Custody Service' colleagues to provide responsive, trauma-informed primary care, mental health, neuro-developmental and substance misuse services to the young people and young adults within our care.

• To be a confident, autonomous practitioner who takes responsibility for the care they give to children but also take responsibility for overseeing the work of others in the team

• To plan, deliver and evaluate interventions for treatment as clinically appropriate using evidence-based models. Co-ordinating multi-disciplinary clinical practice to provide focused and integrated care and treatment programmes/packages.

• To ensure processes/protocols are in place and followed for effective assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for those children with physical, mental health and substance misuse problems.

• To respond to and manage medical emergencies on site, ensuring that immediate, safe, and effective care is provided to children in line with clinical guidelines and safeguarding standards. To take clinical leadership during emergency situations, coordinating the healthcare response, and ensuring timely escalation to and liaison with external emergency services where required. The Post holder will be expected to maintain oversight of post-incident documentation, communication, and follow-up care to ensure continuity, learning, and adherence to governance processes.

• To safeguard vulnerable patients in line with Trust and Oasis Restore safeguarding children policy, and support other team members with safeguarding concerns.

• Demonstrating clinical leadership and challenging any poor behaviour to children, families or other staff members and creating a positive, inclusive culture in which everyone is treated with kindness and respect and the trust's values are embedded in all practice

• To provide support to Oasis Restore school staff, parents/carers and children pertaining to the control of infectious diseases and conditions and give advice on the appropriate preventative measures.

• To promote an awareness of the public health role of the school nurse, in both mental health and physical health, and act as a resource to children, parents/carers, educational staff, other professionals and the wider community to facilitate optimum uptake of the service.

• To contribute towards curriculum planning and implementation of health promotion programmes, working in partnerships with education colleagues, partner organisations and health colleagues to deliver PHSE on site.

• Take a lead role in gathering and recording evidence which demonstrates that CQC and locally agreed standards are being met: assessing the performance of the whole team by using audit and benchmarking exercises and often contribute to the implementation of quality improvement initiatives

• Contributing to the performance management of teams and creating a positive culture in which the team can learn from mistakes and is enthusiastic to improve

• Deputising for the team leader and ensuring that there is no fall in performance in their absence. This may include managing the team and coordinating shifts.

• Provide supervision and annual appraisals to individuals and giving constructive, regular feedback which helps those individuals reflect on their work, understand their objectives and the CQC standards and monitor their progress towards achieving them
