Bright Press creates illustrated nonfiction books across a wide range of categories including gardening, natural history, science, art, and travel. As an Editor, you will help shape the future of our publishing programme and will collaborate with leading publishers from around the world.

Permanent, full-time

Working hours
35 hours per week, Monday to Friday. We currently operate a discretionary hybrid model, with three days in our Brighton office and two working from home.
Salary
Starting from £30,000 (depending on how your skills and experience align to the role)
About the role
As an Editor, you will be responsible for project managing up to 12 frontlist titles per year. This is a busy and varied role as part of a dynamic and motivated team. As well as in-house colleagues, you’ll work with a wide range of external contributors including authors, editors, designers, illustrators, picture researchers and expert consultants. You’ll also manage vital relationships with global co-edition partners.

* Delivering high-quality illustrated nonfiction titles
* Managing schedules and budgets
* Collaborating with our in-house team
* Briefing and managing external contributors
* Liaising with our co-edition partners
* Working on manuscripts and layouts
* Contributing ideas to our list
About you
You will be able to demonstrate you have experience working in an editorial role for a book publisher.
You will be able to show you can:
* Communicate clearly and accurately
* Organise your work effectively and proactively to meet deadlines
* Practice effective prioritisation across multiple projects
* Maintain excellent editorial standards and attention to detail
* Use Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft 365
* Collaborate with external contributors
* Anticipate problems and implement solutions
* Assess materials and help shape content
