The Paint Team Leader will be responsible for overseeing a team of skilled Pain Operatives within Gordon Murray Automotive’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. This role is pivotal in ensuring that all painting and finishing processes meet the highest quality standards expected of Gordon Murray vehicles. The Paint Team Leader will coordinate daily operations, manage resources, and foster a collaborative, safety-conscious, and performance-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Team Management:
* Supervise and lead a team of paint sprayers, prep operatives, and polishers.
* Assign tasks and manage workflow to ensure efficient operations.
* Conduct regular team briefings to communicate production goals, updates, and feedback.
* Mentor and support team members, fostering skill development and continuous improvement.
Operational Excellence:
* Plan and prioritize workloads to meet production schedules and quality standards.
* Monitor team performance and implement corrective actions as needed.
* Ensure all tools, equipment, and materials are available and in good working order.
Quality Assurance:
* Conduct quality checks at each stage of the painting and finishing process.
* Address and resolve any quality issues promptly to maintain high standards.
* Collaborate with the Quality Control team to meet or exceed customer expectations.
Health & Safety:
* Enforce adherence to health and safety regulations within the paint shop.
* Ensure the team uses personal protective equipment (PPE) and follows safe working practices.
* Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions.
Process Improvement:
* Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains.
* Work closely with the Paint Shop Manager and other departments to implement changes.
* Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies.
Reporting:
* Maintain accurate records of team performance, production metrics, and quality outcomes.
* Report any issues, delays, or resource needs to the Paint Shop Manager.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
* Proven experience in automotive painting and finishing processes.
* Previous leadership or supervisory experience within a paint shop or similar environment.
* Strong understanding of paint application techniques, surface preparation, and polishing processes.
* Excellent organizational and communication skills.
* Ability to manage a team effectively, resolve conflicts, and inspire high performance.
* Commitment to quality, attention to detail, and a passion for automotive excellence.
* Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices in a manufacturing environment.
* To perform any other duties that may well be reasonably expected within the remit of the role.
* To ensure compliance with the Health, Safety and Environmental Policy requirements within areas of responsibility.
* In addition to the above responsibilities for Gordon Murray Group, the job also involves similar duties to be conducted for any future subsidiary companies within the Gordon Murray Group.
