Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Nursing Associate to join our dedicated team working across South & West Hertfordshire Special Schools: Meadow Wood, Breakspeare, Woodfield and Watling View School. The post‑holder will play a key role in supporting the health and wellbeing of children and young people with a range of complex needs, working as a part of the Special School Nursing team, in partnership with education staff and families. This role involves delivering high‑quality, person‑centred care; supporting clinical tasks within scope of practice; contributing to health plans; and promoting safe, inclusive school environments that enable pupils to engage fully in their learning. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills, a commitment to collaborative working, and a passion for improving outcomes for children with additional health needs.
Key Responsibilities
To provide high quality, evidence-based nursing care to Children and Young People aged 2‑19 years with complex physical and learning disabilities, across South & West Hertfordshire Special Schools. Nursing Associate will work independently under the leadership of registered nurses and in collaboration with Children and Young People, their families and associated professionals and agencies to meet the health, developmental and safeguarding needs of the caseload. The Nursing Associate will undertake a range of identified skills to reflect the needs of Children and Young People with complex health needs under the care of the Special School Nursing service and provide direct supervision to Health Care Assistants, with the staff of registered nurses and other clinical leaders within Children’s Specialist Nursing Services. Nursing Associates are equipped with the knowledge, understanding, skills, attitudes and behaviours relevant to employment as a Nursing Associate and will work to the NMC code of conduct.
