Civil Enforcement Officer - Southport - Full Time; 40 hours per week - £27,476.80 per annum

If so, you could be our next Dual role Parking and Environmental Enforcement Officer. Within this role you will be patrolling public streets, car parks, green spaces, and public parks. You will be advising the public where they can park safely and issuing tickets to vehicles parked in contravention of the TMA 2004. You will help to maintain clean neighbourhoods by enforcing the Council’s litter provisions and Public Space Protection Order by way of issuing fixed penalty notices. You will report any other environmental issues and deal with general enquiries from members of the public. This role focuses on creating a positive impact on the local neighbourhood and community.
What will you do?
* Play an important role in reducing traffic congestion, antisocial behaviour, and environmental crimes.
* Issue tickets to vehicles parked in breach of the rules.
* Keep a detailed log of violations and debrief incidents that occur during your shift.
* Enforce local laws to protect the area from litter, dog fouling and other breaches of the Environmental Act and Sefton’s Public Space Protection Order, including issuing tickets/notices.
* Walk between 10-15 miles a day in all weathers.
Qualifications and Skills
* Ability to deal with members of the public face to face, including in challenging situations.
* Aptitude to work independently or as part of a team.
* Reliable, self-motivated, and able to handle difficult conversations or situations.
* Knowledge of environmental services is useful but not essential.
* Ability to write short factual statements and evidence for any potential prosecution in court/tribunal.
* PC skills with a handheld device are advantageous.
* Over 18 years of age; a full clean driving licence is useful but not essential.
* Basic English and Maths qualifications or demonstration of this from previous employment.

Shift pattern varies: 08:00-17:00, 09:00-18:00, 11:30-20:30. You will be required to work 3 out of 4 weekends and some bank holidays.
