Due to internal promotion, we are looking for a Pharmacy Technician who holds an NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent. Applicants must be qualified and registered with the GPhC.
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Pharmacy Technician to join our small dispensary-based training team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering tailored induction and training support to Pre-registration Pharmacy Technicians, Pre-registration Pharmacists, Foundation Pharmacists, and other new starters within our inpatient pharmacy services. This is a varied role that combines training responsibilities with contributing to the day-to-day operations of a busy hospital inpatient dispensary.

Main duties of the job
Key duties will include:
1. Supporting the Pharmacy Technician Team Leader with the coordination and delivery of structured dispensary inductions.
2. Helping assess competency and progression through regular reviews and providing feedback.
3. Providing 1-2-1 induction support to new staff across all three dispensaries.
4. Supervising and guiding trainees and new team members, ensuring a smooth transition into the department.
5. Labeling and dispensing medications for patients in line with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
6. Deputizing for the Pharmacy Technician Team Leader when required, and involvement in workforce meetings to establish an optimum skill mix for dispensaries.
7. Contributing to medication safety by supporting error monitoring and promoting safe practices across all sites.
The post is based at SJUH but will involve supporting and training staff at Chapel Allerton and LGI as needed. Being a collaborative team player who values safety, professionalism, and continuous improvement.

Job responsibilities
Working as a registered Pharmacy Technician, the post holder will contribute to the efficient delivery of the Pharmaceutical Service to patients, wards, and departments within the Trust and to other healthcare organizations. This will involve participating in evening, weekend, and Bank Holiday rotas.
Maintain professional and courteous working relationships with staff and respect the equality and diversity of everyone they come into contact with.
Responsible for the training and supervision of Pharmacy Technicians, Pre-Registration Trainee Technicians, and Pharmacy Support Workers, ensuring all staff are kept up to date and informed of any changes in working practices.
Support line management of a team and be responsible for attendance management, annual leave planning, 1-1s, and appraisals.
Deputize for the Specialist Technicians in their absence.

Experience
* Previous pharmacy experience in a hospital or community setting.
* Experience using various computer programs to prepare inductions and work in a dispensary.
* Experience of training and line managing staff.
Skills & Behaviors

Qualifications
* Level 3 NVQ in Pharmacy Services or equivalent.
* GCSEs in Maths and English.
