Job Description
We are looking for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join us at Leonardo in the Luton Manufacturing Engineering Team. You will be part of the Manufacturing Operations business unit, which is a leader in delivering defence electronics, mission critical systems for situational awareness, electronic warfare, communications, and surveillance across land, air, and sea domains.
As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will have the opportunity to build cross-functional relationships and positively influence project teams to support the future of the business and production processes.
What You’ll Do as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer
You will be responsible for the smooth transition of new products from design to manufacture, leading front-end manufacturing activities, providing DFx input, and resolving production capability issues. Your skills will ensure timely, efficient, cost-effective, and accurate product introduction into operations. You will also develop, improve, and support manufacturing processes and equipment for world-class production.
* Develop manufacturing processes by studying product requirements, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment, and collaborating with operators and suppliers.
* Participate in Manufacturing Maturity Reviews, maintain governance through the Lifecycle Management process, and contribute to Manufacturing Plans.
* Provide decision-making information for reviewing production schedules, labor and material costs, and estimating future requirements.
* Prepare reports by analyzing and summarizing information and trends.
* Resolve routine and some complex product and production issues, reacting efficiently to escalations from manufacturing teams.
* Improve manufacturing efficiency through capacity analysis, workflow planning, space requirements, and equipment layout.
What We Need From You
Must-have qualifications:
* HND (or higher) in relevant engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
* Strong practical knowledge of manufacturing processes and principles.
* Experience in peer reviewing work and implementing actions.
* Knowledge of multiple phases of the Product Life Cycle and related processes.
