Interim Interim Homelessness Strategy Lead (Housing Strategy)

Location: Berkshire
Contract: 4-6 months | 3-4 days per week
In collaboration with a South East-based local council, we are seeking an experienced Homelessness Strategy Lead to drive forward key strategic housing priorities.
This interim role will play a central part in shaping the councils housing approach, working across departments, political stakeholders, and external partners.
Key Outcomes:
* Lead the co-production and democratic adoption of a Homelessness & Rough Sleeping Strategy.
* Lead the co-production and adoption of a Specialist Housing Strategy and Specialist Housing SPD.
* Provide expert advice on affordable housing policy within planning consultations, developer negotiations, and registered provider discussions.
* Represent the council at planning appeals, inquiries, and with strategic stakeholders such as Homes England.
* Influence and engage senior officers, elected members, and partners across Adult Social Care, Childrens Services, and Planning.
About You:
* Senior-level background (Service Manager or above) within local government housing strategy and policy.
* Proven track record of developing and delivering housing strategies through to adoption.
* Strong understanding of homelessness, affordable housing legislation, and funding routes.
* Politically astute with excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and influencing skills.
* Confident self-starter able to work independently and manage complex political pressures.
