Teaching Assistant – Alternative Provision (KS3–KS4)
Location: Northampton or Thrapston
Contract: Full-Time, Term-Time Only
Are you passionate about supporting young people who need a different approach to thrive? We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant to join our Alternative Provision setting, working with KS3–KS4 students who benefit from personalised, nurturing, and structured support.
About the Role
You will work closely with teaching staff to support students aged 11–16 with a range of needs, which may include:
* Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
* Behavioural challenges
* Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
* ADHD
* Gaps in learning due to disrupted education
This role requires patience, empathy, consistency, and the ability to build positive, professional relationships that help students re-engage with learning.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide 1:1 and small-group support tailored to individual needs
* Assist in delivering differentiated lessons across KS3 and KS4
* Support behaviour regulation using trauma-informed approaches
* Foster a safe, inclusive, and structured learning environment
* Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
* Support students’ personal development, resilience, and social skills
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
* Experience working with secondary-aged students (11–16)
* Experience in alternative provision, PRU, or SEN settings (desirable)
* Strong behaviour management skills
* A calm, consistent, and adaptable approach
* A genuine commitment to supporting vulnerable young people
* Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent – desirable)
