This role will be based at our Glasgow office and can be worked flexibly with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office/on site and the option of adjusted start and finish times.
What does the role involve?
Sweco is currently engaged in a variety of commissions providing energy, water and environmental services to a wide array of clients via our multi-disciplinary teams. The value and risk profile of such operations require a dedicated Commercial Manager to oversee the contractual operations of our project managers, engineers and administrators to ensure we are providing optimal services to our clients (including design & build tier 1 contractors) whilst maximising the value of our professional services agreements.
The Commercial Manager will report to the Division Manager and be expected to primarily support business winning and post contract commercial requirements of Sweco’s EWE Division (operational commercial management and contract governance). This is an opportunity to join a company within an established consultancy that has a 2 billion turnover across Europe.
Key Accountabilities:
* Contract Administration: help ensure that Sweco employees are engaging with our clients and supply chain in accordance with contract terms and conditions.
* Contractor/Subcontract Governance: manage the supply chain and our clients with appropriate escalation routes to efficiently resolve issues and disputes. Ensure contractual compliance at all times in this regard.
* Business Winning: provide guidance on governance to the project teams and support contract negotiations.
* Auditing: conduct commercial audits and report findings to the Division Manager.
* Financial Control & Reporting: provide analysis and reporting on project cashflow, costs and profitability to Sweco senior management.
* Procurement: responding to procurement requests and letting contracts in-line with programme requirements.
* Bid Support Team: manage the bid support team who will be direct reports.
To be successful in this role you’ll possess:
* A degree in commercial management, quantity surveying, business, supply chain management or equivalent.
* Good working knowledge and experience with forms of contracts within the engineering and/or construction sectors.
* Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) with the ability to adjust your style to suit your audience.
* Ability to do occasional travel away from home (1 to 2 nights every month) throughout the UK.
* Membership with a UK recognised appropriate professional body would be desirable but not mandatory i.e. RICS, CICES, CIPS etc.
