Role Responsible for delivering the safe provision of one or more of the following specific activities with strict adherence to the appropriate regulatory and license obligations for the electricity distribution network; Inspection, Calibration and PAT Testing of Instruments Inspections and repair of Test Prods, Earthing Devices and Ancillary Equipment Inspections and repair of Cable Spikers Inspections and repair of Ladders Inspections and repair of HV Earths Inspection and repair of generator leads & pods Inspection of live line equipment Assist External Insurance Inspectors with 6 monthly inspections for all SPEN equipment Assist with HV Test Centre duties when required Maintain electronic records Assist in Depot Inspections across Energy Networks South (overnight stays, may be required on occasion) What you will bring Deliver business plan outputs in line with financial, regulatory and business plan objectives whilst optimising return through incentive mechanisms. Ensure efficient and effective delivery of performance targets as appropriate To support continual performance improvement through analysis of outputs and feedback from internal and external sources. Demonstrate and promote exemplary safety behaviours and ensure that all safety legislation is implemented and delivered through all activities Capture feedback and issues from Operational Safety and Compliance Audits, Quality Audits etc and address any non-conformances. Deliver excellent customer service to all aspects of your operation. Actively promote and strive to achieve customer service standards within area of responsibility. Take responsibility and accountability for tasks and activities and contributes to the achievement of team goals by providing support, advice, encouragement, clear direction and coaching when appropriate. What you'll be doing The post holder will have a requirement to respond to a number of different challenges in this role. The accountabilities are varied and a degree of knowledge is required in each area to ensure effectiveness. Deliver full balance of programme activities, taking into account overall Energy Networks objectives and audacious goals. Take ownership to improve the safety and customer service culture across the organisation. Able to make balanced decisions, taking into account all possible information available, able to consult with others when applicable and anticipate/recognise possible outcomes. Confident to make own decisions and able to refer to immediate supervisor or peers for either ratification of own view, or assistance in decision making when necessary. Takes responsibility and accountability for delivery of task and contributes to effective decision making to realise self and team goals. Technical and operational experience in a relevant engineering role. Sound knowledge of Energy Networks policies, procedures and working practices. Sound knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation. Awareness of network development policies and procedures. Working knowledge of network and business data and network management systems. Contract & Service Level Agreement ( SLA ) management and general commercial & regulatory awareness. Ability to devise solutions to complex problems/challenges. Ability to communicate with customers and colleagues. Use of electrical test equipment.
