An opportunity has arisen to join the Ophthalmology department at Colchester Hospital as an Operational Coordinator, responsible for the coordination of the service. This rewarding role involves ensuring the service is safely covered 24/7 by working closely with specialties and clinical and administrative teams.
This position will enable you to play a major role in developing service delivery for the benefit of our patients, with care and compassion at the core. You will have opportunities to develop your operational and management skills in a supportive environment.
Please note, this is a fixed-term/secondment position until 31st December 2025. Internal candidates will be offered a secondment only.
Main Duties
* Manage daily operational aspects, including the coordination of divisional rotas and medical resources.
* Line management responsibilities for administrative staff, reporting issues to the Service Manager.
* Ensure smooth daily operations, liaising with stakeholders within and outside the Trust.
* Preferably have healthcare experience; excellent communication skills; proficiency in MS Office and Excel.
* Transferable skills will be considered if relevant experience is demonstrated.

Person Specification
Experience
* Essential: Managing staff, working to deadlines, multidisciplinary environment experience.
* Desirable: NHS staff management, medical secretary experience.
Qualifications
* Essential: Management/Business/Administration degree or proven management experience; leadership courses or commitment to develop.
* Desirable: Prince 2 or project management certification.
Knowledge
* Essential: NHS and DOH knowledge, performance management.
* Desirable: NHS IT systems.
