Regulatory Compliance Officer
Job description
Could you be the person who brings energy, drive, and real impact to our communities—tackling challenges head-on and making every day count?
If you're someone who’s passionate about making a difference in your community, enjoys problem-solving, and thrives in a varied and dynamic role, this could be the perfect opportunity for you. We're looking for someone who’s adaptable, curious, and ready to contribute to a team that works across Environmental Enforcement and Highway Enforcement.
What’s the role all about?
This role sits within the Environmental Health and Housing Team and involves supporting a broad range of regulatory functions. You’ll be helping to deliver services that protect public health, support behaviour change, and ensure compliance with aspects of environmental enforcement. It’s a hands-on role where you’ll be involved in inspections, investigations, enforcement actions, and community engagement.
What will your day look like?
Your day will be varied and hands-on, involving tasks such as assisting with inspections, preparing case files, and investigating complaints from the public. You’ll gather evidence, support community projects, and take part in enforcement visits. A key part of your role will be advising tenants, landlords, and businesses on regulatory matters, as well as processing licence applications and issuing documentation. Acting as the eyes and ears of the regulatory services team, you’ll work across a range of sites, responding to service requests and helping to improve living conditions while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
In addition to your core responsibilities within your day-to-day role, you will also be expected to undertake and successfully complete a Regulatory Compliance qualification.
Who are we looking for?
We’re looking for someone with a genuine interest in regulation and enforcement—someone who communicates clearly and confidently, can manage conflict, and solve problems effectively. You’ll need to be organised, adaptable, and capable of working independently across a variety of settings. A full driving licence is essential, as is the flexibility to work across different sites and occasionally outside of core hours. You should also hold GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English. While experience in the public sector or working within a team environment is desirable, it’s your potential and commitment to the role that matter most to us.
Why join us?
Because this isn’t just a job—it’s a chance to be part of something bigger. At North East Lincolnshire Council, you’ll join a team that’s committed to protecting environmental health, improving housing standards, and making our communities safer and stronger. You’ll be supported to grow, contribute meaningfully, and make a real impact every day. If you’re looking for a role where your work matters and your development is valued, this is the place to be.
