Overview
We are an established and fast‑growing organisation seeking a proactive, hands‑on Sustainability Lead to drive environmental performance across our national network. This is a pivotal role for an individual who is passionate about sustainability and thrives in a dynamic, operational environment.
Role
The Sustainability Lead will take ownership of tracking, improving, and communicating sustainability performance across multiple sites, including waste reduction, recycling optimisation, and broader environmental initiatives such as carbon reduction and EV adoption.
Key Responsibilities
* Sustainability Strategy & Performance: Support the delivery and continuous improvement of the company's sustainability strategy; track and report against key KPIs including waste, recycling, and environmental impact; identify and implement opportunities to enhance sustainability performance across depots; drive initiatives such as waste reduction programmes and EV implementation; collaborate with recycling and waste partners to gather, validate, and analyse monthly data.
* Operational & Depot Engagement: Travel regularly to depots to support sustainability initiatives on the ground; work closely with depot teams and sustainability champions to improve local performance; promote best practices and embed a culture of sustainability across operations.
* Data, Reporting & Insights: Collect, analyse, and consolidate data from multiple sources; produce clear, accurate, and insightful monthly sustainability reports; ensure consistency, transparency, and integrity of all sustainability data.
* Client Reporting & Communication: Create engaging, client‑facing sustainability reports and performance packs; present insights and progress updates tailored to client requirements; support client meetings, reviews, and ongoing relationship management.
About You
Essential:
* Experience in sustainability, environmental analysis, or waste and recycling management.
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
* Confident communicator, comfortable engaging with both internal teams and external clients.
* Proven stakeholder management and relationship‑building skills.
Desirable:
* Knowledge of UK waste and recycling regulations.
* Experience working with recycling partners or environmental service providers.
