CAMHS Clinical Lead: NELFT Community Eating Disorders Service

We are seeking a full‑time Clinical Lead who is a systemic psychotherapist with substantial experience treating eating disorders to join our well‑established NELFT London Community Eating Disorder Service.

The successful candidate will play a lead role in shaping the ongoing development of the service and the team, including identifying and responding to new opportunities and further developing our clinical pathways. In line with the NELFT vision, they will be committed to developing a service that provides high‑quality care for service users and their families, delivered by a skilled, committed team, while ensuring an inclusive, innovative, and supportive work environment.

In this role the Clinical Lead will work closely with the Strategic Lead, Team Manager, CAMHS Consultant Psychiatrists, and senior clinical colleagues, supporting the delivery of a comprehensive community Eating Disorder Service for CYP, including the intensive community treatment pathway and upholding clinical standards. They will also maintain effective working relationships with external stakeholders, including primary care, the North Central and East London CYP Eating Disorder Provider Collaborative, ICBs, and other statutory and voluntary agencies.


Key Responsibilities

1. Provide leadership and promote initiative, creativity, and motivation to ensure staff personal development and training needs are addressed.
2. Coordinate the implementation of service developments and changes, ensuring all operational implications are considered and service disruption is minimised.
3. Participate in the development of an effective team and productive working relationships throughout the Trust.
4. Promote integrated health professional working internally and externally.
5. Facilitate the development of a positive and supportive team culture, managing potential conflict effectively.
6. Provide clinical leadership and quality control to ensure adherence to evidence‑based models in eating disorders and ongoing therapist development.
7. Set, implement and evaluate clear, achievable and measurable objectives for the EDS in partnership with service leads, managers and psychiatrists.
8. Apply organisational knowledge of Trust protocols and procedures, particularly safeguarding, and maintain advanced knowledge of risk management at team level.
9. Lead the team to remain inclusive, well‑supervised and supported with opportunities for growth and development.


Clinical Skills & Qualifications

* Post‑graduate qualification as a systemic psychotherapist, fully registered with UKCP/AFT. Dual qualifications (e.g., clinical/counselling psychology, social work, nursing) are welcome.
* Responsible and accountable for service delivery to clients via NICE‑compliant pathways for eating disorders.
* Ability to assess and develop comprehensive plans of care for clients with complex needs.
* Providing clients and families with information and education to promote informed choices, dignity, independence and quality of life.
* Ensuring practice is supported by research, evidence‑based practice, literature and peer review.


Benefits

The role offers a High Cost Area Supplement for Outer London: 15% of basic salary, with a minimum of £4,551 and maximum of £5,735 (pro‑rated for part‑time staff).

Probationary period applies, with internal applicants exempt unless currently within a probationary period or bank member. New starters join on the first Monday of each month and undergo a comprehensive two‑week induction at our head office in Rainham, Essex.


About the Service

This lifespan Eating Disorder Service, established in 2013, offers specialist assessment and treatment to individuals aged eight and above with AN, BN, BED, and OSFED. It delivers NICE‑compliant treatments through a multidisciplinary team and provides an Intensive Community Treatment pathway called HIVE for young people at risk of admission.

We are fully accredited by QNCC (2022) and fully integrate Emotion‑Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) into family treatment. The successful candidate will ensure the service continues to meet this high standard of care.
