About Us
KAM Performing Arts Academy CIC is a not-for-profit community organisation dedicated to inspiring and empowering young people through the performing arts. We cover our outgoings (such as venue hire, tutor pay, and project costs) and reinvest any surplus back into the organisation. This ensures opportunities remain affordable, accessible, and community-focused for children and young people in Cheltenham.
Through workshops, courses, and weekly classes, we provide safe and supportive spaces where young people can grow in confidence, creativity, and performance skills.
The Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Singing Tutor to join our growing team. The successful candidate will:
* Lead weekly singing classes at our Cheltenham Academy (Brooklyn Road)
* Deliver creative vocal workshops in schools and community venues
* Provide 1:1 singing coaching for children and young people
You will work with participants aged 4–16, creating inclusive and engaging sessions that nurture vocal technique, creativity, confidence, and self-expression.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver inclusive, engaging singing sessions (weekly classes, workshops, and 1:1s).
* Support children and young people (ages 4–16) in developing vocal skills, confidence, and creativity.
* Teach a variety of vocal techniques, styles, and repertoire appropriate to different ages and abilities.
* Adapt sessions to suit a wide range of abilities and age groups.
* Work collaboratively with other tutors, artists, and community partners.
* Ensure safeguarding, health, and safety standards are met at all times.
Person Specification
Essential:
* Experience teaching or leading singing/vocal sessions for children/young people.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to inspire, motivate, and engage participants.
* Commitment to inclusivity and accessibility in the arts.
* Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
Desirable:
* Formal music/vocal teaching qualification or equivalent experience.
* Ability to accompany on piano/keyboard or work confidently with backing tracks.
* Experience working in community or educational settings.
* First Aid and/or Safeguarding training.
