Healthcare Support Worker – Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust
Osborne Court is a specialist Replacement Care service for young adults (over 18) and adults with learning disabilities in Worcestershire. We support individuals who require nursing care, have complex health needs, or present with challenging behaviours.
Job Summary
This is a part‑time post (22.5 hours per week) with flexible day and night shifts:
* 7‑14:00
* 14‑21:00
* 21:00‑07:30
Shifts will cover bank holidays. A Right to Work in the UK is required – the trust will not sponsor.
Responsibilities
* Admit and discharge service users and their belongings.
* Communicate regularly with families and other professionals (day‑centre staff, college staff, GP, Community Learning Disability Nurses).
* Provide personal care, prepare meals, shop for food, wash bedding and clothes, and support service users with meals.
* Support users with personal care tasks, moving and handling, and ensure a person‑centred approach in all care decisions.
* Participate in regular reviews with families and staff to assess and respond to the needs of each individual.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
* Commitment to delivering individualised support to each person accessing the service.
* Understanding that sponsorship is not offered.
* Clear communication in English (written and verbal).
* Capability to work flexible shifts and adapt to team requirements.
* Basic IT skills.
* Level 2 qualification (e.g. GCSE Grade A‑C, NVQ2) in Care or equivalent; expected to achieve the Care Certificate within 12 weeks of appointment.
Desirable Criteria
* Experience supporting adults with learning disabilities or in a broader care role.
* Experience with individuals whose behaviours challenge.
* Knowledge of learning disability, physical disability, and associated complex healthcare needs.
* Experience with alternative communication methods (e.g. BSL, Makaton, Sign‑a‑Long, Picture Exchange).
