Key responsibilities
Lead, coach and develop shift teams, carrying out 121s, performance reviews and ongoing training.
Oversee all aspects of health, safety, wellbeing and environmental compliance during your shift.
Ensure production is delivered on time, to the correct quality standards and in line with customer requirements.
Attend planning meetings and communicate priorities, targets and updates to your team throughout the shift.
Drive continuous improvement focused on safety, productivity, yields and operational efficiency.
Optimise plant uptime by coordinating maintenance activities with minimal disruption.
Maintain stock integrity through regular PI checks and tight control of raw material usage.
Audit and review operating procedures, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up to date.
Manage waste streams effectively with correct packaging, labelling and disposal processes.
Ensure excellent housekeeping and consistent operational standards across all shifts.
Produce thorough shift handovers and daily production updates, ensuring timely bookings into relevant systems.
Conduct safety tours, quality audits, incident investigations and root‑cause analysis.
Respond to onsite emergencies when required and ensure safe systems of work are adhered to.
Troubleshoot first‑line plant issues and escalate maintenance needs as necessary.Profile
The successful candidate
Ideally IOSH qualified with strong knowledge of manufacturing, health & safety and environmental procedures.
Proven experience in a managerial or supervisory role within a manufacturing environment, ideally across shift operations.
A confident leader who leads by example and can balance hands‑on support with oversight of wider operational performance.
Strong communication, organisation and planning skills, with the ability to coach and develop diverse teams.
Competent IT user, particularly within Microsoft Office and Excel.
A proactive, forward‑thinking individual with a "can‑do" attitude and commitment to high standards.
