Overview:
We are seeking a reliable and motivated Senior Kitchen Assistant to join our team at the Compass Cafe. You will play a crucial role in our culinary team in meal preparation and ensuring a smooth operation in the kitchen. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for food and a desire to gain experience in the culinary industry.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with food preparation, including chopping, slicing, and dicing ingredients
- Meal assembly and plating in accordance with our standards
- Able to run a shift in the head chef's absence
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area
- Follow food safety guidelines and ensure proper handling of ingredients
- Placing stock orders with suppliers
- Receiving and storing food deliveries
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient workflow
Experience:
- Previous experience working in a busy kitchen or restaurant environment is essential
- Knowledge of basic culinary techniques and food preparation methods is also required
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and practices
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately

This is a part time position working around 30 hours a week, 5 day shifts across 7 days including weekends on a rota basis. There is no split shifts or evening work.
Pay dependent on age. If you are over 21 it is £12.50 per hour.
