As a trusted and independent national capability, UKTL interacts at the intersection of standards bodies such as 3GPP, the National Cyber Security Centre, the wider UK intelligence community, academia, Ofcom, as well as Communications Service Providers and telecommunication equipment vendors.
The role involves managing quality in one or more groups to ensure high standards and compliance with UKTL's Quality Management System. Key responsibilities include:
1. The local source and first point of contact for Quality Control / Assurance best practices, working closely with Group Leaders, Delivery Managers, and the QA team to review quality compliance.
2. Ensuring data integrity and adherence to the Compliance Management System (CMS), including review of procedures, measurement records, software validation, competence records, and change control processes.
3. Performing first-line checks to maintain document controls, archiving systems, and data supporting method verification and validation, including design reviews (training provided).
4. Providing guidance for best practices and procedures, conducting gap analyses on compliance with quality requirements, and sharing outcomes with QA.
5. Promoting continuous improvement and customer focus within your area.
Successful applicants must be able to commute to the UKTL offices in Birmingham, with the possibility of hybrid working.

Role requirements:
* Relevant software quality and/or data management experience.
* Experience with auditing within ISO9001 / TickIT+ environments.
* Familiarity with the software lifecycle: requirements analysis, design, development, testing, maintenance, and support.
* Knowledge of FAIR data principles.
* Experience working within a rigorous QMS.
* Leadership in continuous improvement initiatives.
* Strong influencing, communication, and presentation skills.
* Ability to manage time effectively and work within an interdisciplinary team.
* Familiarity with Microsoft SharePoint and Teams.
* Demonstrated experience in promoting and enforcing quality standards in research and industry settings.
