Responsibilities
* Prepare and assemble different furniture frames
* Work with various hand and power tools
* Perform cutting, sanding, prepping and finishing tasks
* Handle a wide range of materials, such as hard wood and soft wood
* Cut materials precisely for applications
* Apply finishes, including handles and runners, hinges
* Maintain a clean workspace and manage general labour duties
* Organise tasks and inventory
* Manage and organise stock effectively
* Collaborate within a team environment
* Work independently, using initiative to solve challenges
Training and Qualifications
Comprehensive Modern Furniture Making Training: During the Standard Level 2 Furniture Making Operative apprenticeship program you will receive training both off and on the job. Training takes place at the employer’s workplace and at WEBS Training in Nottingham on a day basis, once per week. You will learn underpinning knowledge alongside practical elements. WEBS Training aims to build on your existing skills to help you reach your potential personally and professionally. Training covers all areas of furniture to enable you to create practical products using traditional and modern techniques and materials.
If you already have GCSE maths and English at Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent), you may be exempt from Functional Skills. English and maths support will be provided throughout the programme.
