The Housing and Homelessness Service is a busy environment facing several challenges to meet the housing needs of Coventry's citizens. The team has grown significantly over the past 12 months, reflecting that Housing & Homelessness are now key council priorities.
The team is responsible for:
1. Provision of the statutory homeless service
2. Provision of temporary accommodation
3. Management of the housing register
4. Coordination of support to citizens rough sleeping
5. Commissioning of homeless services
6. Responsibility for housing strategy
The Council's strategic vision is outlined in the Housing & Homelessness and the Rough Sleeping Strategies, both approved in 2019.

Job Role
We seek a motivated, enthusiastic individual with a good understanding of the challenges faced by homeless individuals or those in supported accommodation. The role involves leading on ensuring quality and compliance in supported homeless accommodation and supporting operational efficiency, including research, best practices, and cross-partnership initiatives.
You will collaborate with internal and external partners, including service providers, the SEA team, and other council directorates.
This position is exempt under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974; appointment is conditional on a satisfactory DBS check.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong negotiation, communication, and organizational skills. They should understand the limitations of supported accommodation, be able to identify trends, and produce actionable recommendations. Flexibility, initiative, and relationship-building skills are essential, along with the ability to analyze and report data effectively.
