Job Overview
We have an opportunity for an experienced midwife to join our day assessment team. The post holder will be a clearly identifiable and essential clinical member of the Maternity Day Assessment Unit, alongside other members of the multidisciplinary team. They will have significant clinical experience, provide sound clinical expertise to ensure delivery of high quality, safe and compassionate evidence based care.
Responsibilities
* Provide maternal and fetal surveillance to women attending the Day Assessment Unit in order to optimise maternal and fetal well‑being.
* Provide safe and woman‑centred care in collaboration with other members of the multidisciplinary team and departments.
* Maintain a safe environment and respond to emergencies.
* Provide direct, woman‑centred care during the antenatal period and have detailed clinical knowledge of this specialist area of mid‑wifery practice.
* Work in partnership with Maternal and Fetal Medicine to ensure consistency and continuity of care for women with medically complex pregnancies.
* Ensure that all episodes of care are documented in an appropriate and accountable way; disseminate all relevant changes in the woman's condition to the multi‑disciplinary team.
* Maintain up‑to‑date professional knowledge, demonstrated through safe and effective clinical practice.
* Show compassionate behaviour towards women and their families, ensuring that equality and diversity differences are respected and that women and their families are enabled to be partners in their own care.
* Ensure that women and their families receive information in a sensitive way, enabling them to make informed decisions about all aspects of their care.

As an NMC registrant, the successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership qualities, be open, transparent and trustworthy, and uphold the NMC Code of Conduct.
