At Wagamama, we celebrate differences and value personality over perfection — we call it "be you, be wagamama." With over 165 restaurants, we are looking for a Senior Sous Chef to join us on our journey to nourish both body and soul.
The Role |
As a Senior Sous Chef, you will be an inspirational leader, creating a positive environment for your team and guests. You will support in coaching and developing your team to reach their full potential while driving restaurant performance and delivering excellent results.
What You Need To Do |
* Create a positive environment where your team feels cared for and listened to, celebrating successes. Prioritize nurturing and developing talent within your team, role-modeling a coaching culture within management.
* Ensure an excellent guest experience by maintaining high standards in dish preparation, whether through your own efforts or by empowering your team with necessary skills and mindset.
* Maintain spotless food, health, and safety standards in your kitchen. Understand the financial aspects of kitchen management, including gross profit, stock control, and labor costs, and proactively spot opportunities for improvement.
* Build a coaching culture within your team, working with your Head Chef on recruitment and ongoing development. Foster personal and professional growth.
* Be a forward-thinking problem solver, capable of quick decision-making and thinking on your feet.
What We Look For |
* Experience leading a kitchen team as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef, driving performance through positive behavior in a fast-paced environment.
* Strong communication skills with genuine conversations that ensure your team feels heard and supported.
* Experience maintaining high standards of food, health, and safety.
* Understanding of kitchen financials, including gross profit and stock control.
* Ability to manage labor costs and adapt to changing demands.
* Leadership qualities that inspire and engage your team to succeed and grow.
* A commitment to creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels respected and belongs.
* Problem-solving skills with the ability to make quick, effective decisions.
What’s In It For You |
* Bonus scheme — up to £3,000 annually.
* Access up to 30% of your earnings before payday with Wagestream.
* Share of tips (tips go directly to the team, vary by restaurant, and are voluntary).
* Free food on shift from our menu, with 50% off outside of work for friends and family.
* Industry-leading family-friendly policies, including 26 weeks full pay plus 13 weeks half pay for expectant or adopting parents.
* Early access to our new menus.
* Dry-cleaned chef whites provided each shift.
* Wagamama parties with VIP guests throughout the year.
* Recognition as a nationwide Wok Star through our national recognition program.
We also offer pension schemes, holiday entitlement, training, cycle-to-work schemes, retail and leisure discounts, gym memberships, and long service awards.
Be You, Be Wagamama
Wagamama is proudly part of the Disability Confident scheme.
*Tips are voluntary and at guests' discretion; they are not guaranteed wages and vary by restaurant.
