An established environmental and design consultancy is seeking an experienced Head of Arboriculture to lead its Arboriculture team in Manchester.
This senior leadership role is ideal for an experienced arboricultural professional looking to take ownership of team development, technical quality, project delivery, and strategic growth within a multidisciplinary consultancy environment.
Your new role
The main responsibilities of this role include:
1. Lead, mentor, and develop the Arboriculture team, ensuring high professional standards and a supportive working culture.
2. Oversee resourcing, workload planning, and staff development pathways
3. Provide technical guidance on arboricultural matters across the team
4. Manage and support arboricultural input across a range of schemes, including development projects, tree risk assessments, and strategic tree management plans.
5. Review quality assurance reports, surveys, method statements, and planning documentation
6. Solveplex arboricultural challenges and ensurepliance with industry best practice and relevant British Standards ( BS5837)
7. Act as a senior point of contact for clients, local authorities, and project partners
8. Build and maintain strong client relationships and support business development opportunities
9. Attend meetings, workshops, and site visits, representing the arboricultural discipline at a high level
10. Contribute to service development, enhancing processes, tools, and technical workflows
11. Supportmercial management, including fee proposals, budgeting, and project forecasting
12. Ensure services are delivered effectively, efficiently, and on time
What you'll need to succeed
13. 5+ years experience working within arboriculture, including leading teams and deliveringplex consultancy projects
14. Strong knowledge of BS5837 tree surveys, arboricultural impact assessments, and method statements
15. Demonstrable experience mentoring and developing arboricultural professionals
16. Strong written and verbalmunication skills, with the ability to deliver high‑quality reports and technical advice
17. Excellent organisational and time‑management skills
18. Confident in managing client relationships and contributing to business development
19. Proficiency in MS Office and digital survey tools
20. Full UK driving licence
21. Flexible approach to travel and occasional work outside standard hours
