Do you want a challenging and rewarding career with real opportunities to change the lives of young people in Kent? If you are a dynamic, creative, and positive leader dedicated to improving outcomes for those with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND), then we want to hear from you.
We have an excellent opportunity available for a Placement Team Manager in our SEND Team, working closely with our assessment, tribunal, and casework teams.
You will play an integral role in supporting the placement of pupils following an EHC Needs Assessment.
This is a highly demanding role, but you will be working with an established, experienced, and supportive leadership team. You will be responsible for overseeing the placement of pupils with SEND following the EHCNA process, taking into account consultation responses, parental preferences, and knowledge of the local area.
You will manage a team of 8-10 staff, overseeing their appraisals and daily management. Kent County Council is committed to continuous professional development, offering regular training and mentoring opportunities.
To be considered, you should have an excellent understanding of SEN legislation, including the SEN Code of Practice (2014), Children and Families Act (2014), and Disability Discrimination Act (1995), and their application within Kent. A comprehensive understanding of guidance and best practices in Early Years, Primary, Secondary Education, and Post-16 education is also required.
You should have sound IT skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and understand the importance of maintaining accuracy and confidentiality. Confidence in data processing, integration, and analytics is essential.
If you are a positive person with a ‘can-do’ attitude who can handle pressures within the EHC Placement Team, providing a client-driven service and exceeding expectations, we want to hear from you.
This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
As a customer-facing position, the role requires command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for effective performance, as per Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016). Standards are detailed in the Job Description/Person Specification.
This is a county-wide role. The successful candidate will spend at least 2 days per week in a local office and will attend meetings across educational settings, other organizations, and Local Authority premises throughout Kent.
