Senior Quantity Surveyor (MEP)
Location: London
Vallum are currently hiring an experienced Quantity Surveyor for a leading Data Centre developer, to work on the new build of a flagship project in London.
Core Responsibilities
* Lead all commercial aspects across a portfolio of projects, ensuring alignment with overall business and financial goals.
* Establish and maintain effective systems for cost control, budget tracking, and project reporting.
* Conduct detailed reviews of tender documentation, identifying potential risks, opportunities, and areas for commercial improvement.
* Manage the procurement and appointment of subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring compliance with contractual, financial, and quality requirements.
* Oversee preparation and issue of contractual communications including variations, extensions of time, and claims, supported by clear documentation and analysis.
* Provide accurate and timely cost reporting, comparing forecast and actual performance, and implementing corrective actions where needed.
* Collaborate closely with project delivery teams to define objectives, scope, and deliverables, ensuring projects remain on schedule and within budget.
* Prepare and manage subcontracts that reflect agreed scope, ensuring compliance with all contractual obligations, payment terms, and programme submissions.
* Promote best practices in commercial governance, ensuring all project stakeholders understand the financial and contractual framework in which they operate.
* Build and sustain positive client relationships, contributing to repeat business and long-term partnerships through consistent performance and proactive communication.
Candidate Requirements
* Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a related field, ideally accredited by SCSI and/or RICS.
* A minimum of 5 years’ professional experience in a commercial or quantity surveying role within large-scale construction or data centre environments.
* Strong understanding of industry-standard forms of contract such as FIDIC, JCT, and RIAI.
* High level of attention to detail with strong analytical, organisational, and reporting skills.
* Excellent relationship management and communication skills, with experience working collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
