The job itself
We are looking for 2 to 3 carers to provide care and support and to ensure we have sufficient cover.
Hours
12 hours per week Monday - Sunday / 9-9.30am start for the morning calls and around 5pm for the tea time calls.
5 days per week AM 45 mins / 2 days per week AM 1.5 hours / 7 days per week tea time 45 mins.
About the recipient
The individual is a 51 year old female and resides in Goole, they require a dedicated and suitable person to support them due to having osteoarthritis which she suffers pain head to toe and has very limited movement. The lady has;
1. Osteoarthritis.
2. Stoma bag.
3. Chronic Asthma.
4. COPD.
5. Dysphagia (food must be cut in to thin pieces to prevent choking).
6. Diabetes.
Lady enjoys talking to friends, watching films and likes to have choices in bedding, food, drinks etc. Lady does not like her doors being shut due to past trauma so these must always stay open.
About the role
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
7. Meal preparation and some domestic tasks.
8. Assisting the individual with medication.
9. Assisting with personal care.
10. Stoma care
Female workers only due to personal cares.
About the candidate
Lady is very outgoing, but suffers alot of pain. She loves talking with her friends and daughter. Lady is confined to bed due to her disability and suffers with mental health as the pain can get alot, as well as being bed bound. Lady likes to make her own decision when it comes to bedding and food. Lady is cared for quite differently due to her being in pain, things have to be done gently and must be explained to her. Sometimes Lady might be quiet as the pain can get too much.
The suitable candidate must:
11. Be motivated, proactive and able to work on their own initiative.
12. Be patient, caring and understanding.
13. Have good communication skills (clear and effective communication).
14. Be able to build a positive relationship with the individual to both encourage and support them.
15. Have previous experience caring for an individual with additional needs.
16. Be flexible to accommodate the hours of work where necessary.
17. Be a team player and able to work effectively alongside another carer.
18. Be comfortable with animals as there are 2 indoor cats in the household.
DBS/Reference checks will be required for this post - Cost to be met by the local authority.
