Role Overview
We are looking for a proactive, detail‑oriented Buyer to join our procurement team on a 12‑month maternity leave cover. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a high‑impact, mission‑critical industry while supporting key supply chain and manufacturing operations.
Reporting to the Senior Buyer, you will play a vital role in ensuring materials and services are procured efficiently, cost‑effectively, and in line with quality and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Raise and manage purchase orders accurately and on time
* Attend procurement and cross‑functional meetings at our Crawley manufacturing site
* Build and maintain strong, collaborative supplier relationships
* Support cost‑reduction initiatives and benchmark supply chain competitiveness
* Collaborate closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering, and Quality teams on NPI projects
* Support the Senior Buyer with negotiations and strategic sourcing activities
* Identify and implement cost‑saving and value‑engineering opportunities
* Ensure compliance with ISO standards through accurate process documentation
* Resolve supplier invoice queries and manage internal demand requests
* Monitor supplier performance to ensure cost, quality, and delivery targets are met (Total Cost of Ownership)
What We’re Looking For
* Minimum 3 years’ purchasing experience within a manufacturing environment
* Strong communication skills with the ability to build effective internal and external relationships
* Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines
* Experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365)
* Detail‑focused, proactive, and solution‑oriented approach
