Northern Security is entering an exciting phase of growth, and we are looking for a Control and Scheduling Manager to take ownership of our central monitoring and control function.
This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring the effective coordination of operations, safeguarding personnel and assets, and driving continuous improvement across our Control Room.
You will play a pivotal role in shaping how our Control function evolves as the business scales.
The Control and Scheduling Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the central monitoring station, ensuring the safety of personnel and assets through effective surveillance, incident response, and workforce coordination.
The successful candidate will play a key role in driving operational efficiency, workforce planning, and continuous improvement across the Control Room function.
Salary: £35,000 per annum
Hours: 42.5 hours per week, with flexibility required to support operational demands
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Control Room Operations:
* Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Control Room operators to maintain high performance standards
* Act as the primary escalation point for operational issues, including incidents and staffing gaps
* Ensure effective 24/7 Control Room coverage and operational continuity
* Coordinate responses to incidents, including liaison with emergency services where required
Workforce Planning & Scheduling:
* Manage and optimise rotas for 200+ security officers, working towards structured and efficient scheduling
* Improve visibility and forward planning of shifts to support operational stability
* Cover and coordinate gaps due to annual leave, sickness, and short-notice changes
* Support the development of a flexible workforce, including zero-hours coverage solutions
Operational Improvement & Strategy:
* Analyse operational data and control room logs to identify trends, risks, and areas for improvement
* Contribute to the growth and development of Control Room services and future contracts
* Develop and implement standard operating procedures and emergency response processes
People, Training & Compliance:
* Liaise with HR and Operations on recruitment, succession planning, and workforce requirements
* Oversee the distribution and tracking of training plans to ensure full compliance across all sites
* Ensure adherence to data protection, compliance, and industry standards
Systems & Infrastructure:
* Monitor and report on the performance and maintenance of control room systems and equipment
* Support continuous improvement of systems and processes
Essential Requirements:
* Demonstrated ability to manage teams in high-pressure situations
* Strong understanding of data protection and compliance requirements
* Experience managing complex rotas and workforce planning
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Excellent communication skills, including stakeholder management
* Experience using security or workforce management systems
* Proficient in Microsoft Office (Particularly in Excel, Outlook and Teams)
