Shaping Young Minds Through Phonics
This is a vital full-time opportunity for a Primary Teaching Assistant at a "Good"-rated primary school in North Surrey. You will provide dedicated support to Year 1 pupils, focusing on phonics and early reading skills, collaborating with teachers to foster foundational literacy in an inclusive environment. This ongoing position has strong potential for permanency.
Your Role: Key Contributions to Early Literacy
As a Primary Teaching Assistant, your key contributions will include:
Providing direct classroom support to Year 1 pupils, either one-on-one or in small groups, with a strong emphasis on phonics interventions and activities.
Assisting with the delivery of phonics lessons and reinforcing learning through engaging activities.
Promoting positive behaviour and encouraging social skills development.
Boosting pupil confidence and promoting independence, particularly in their reading and writing.
Liaising effectively with teaching staff, offering insights into pupil progress in phonics, and assisting with lesson preparation.What We Require: Essential Qualifications & Skills
To thrive in this role, you'll need:
Demonstrable experience as a Primary Teaching Assistant.
Experience supporting children in Early Years (EYFS) or Key Stage 1 (KS1), with specific experience or a strong interest in phonics instruction.
The ability to calmly and effectively manage various classroom situations.
