Our client is seeking a Legal Secretary to join their busy Private Client team based in Luton, Bedfordshire or Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire.

This opportunity would suit an experienced Legal Secretary who is comfortable supporting fee earners in a client-facing environment. While prior Private Client experience would be advantageous, candidates with secretarial experience from other areas of law are encouraged to apply.

The firm is a well-established, multi-service practice providing legal advice to both individuals and businesses. Client care, professionalism, and trust are central to how the firm operates.

Purpose of the Role

To provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to fee earners within the Private Client department.

Key Responsibilities

• Audio and copy typing of correspondence, legal documents, and forms
• Managing incoming telephone calls in a professional and efficient manner
• General administrative duties including photocopying and updating client records
• Maintaining and organising files to ensure they are accurate and up to date
• Arranging appointments and liaising with clients
• Inputting and updating data on the firm’s case management system
• Supporting colleagues within the wider secretarial team, including providing cover when required
• Handling confidential and sensitive information with discretion at all times

Candidate Profile

• Previous experience as a Legal Secretary is essential
• Experience within Private Client is beneficial but not essential; candidates from other practice areas will be considered
• Fast and accurate typing skills with strong technical ability
• Able to manage a busy workload with minimal supervision and meet deadlines
• Confident, professional communication skills both by telephone and in person
• Strong attention to detail
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word
